The Product
Skyline Ballroom is an event venue with an in-house catering operation. We built a combined ballroom and catering management system that handles event bookings, hall availability, menu and package selection, guest counts, and kitchen coordination in one platform.
How we started
The venue was running two businesses at once — the ballroom and the catering — on separate, manual processes. Event details agreed with a client often didn't reach the kitchen cleanly, and availability was hard to keep straight across both.
The Mission
To run the venue and its catering as one connected operation, so a booking, its menu, and its guest count flow straight to the team without re-keying or lost details.
The Client's Problem
Ballroom bookings and catering orders were tracked separately, so menus, headcounts, and event dates fell out of sync — leading to last-minute scrambles and miscommunication with the kitchen.
[ The Challenges ]
Modelling an event as a single booking that carries the hall, the date, the package, the guest count, and the catering menu together, and presenting it clearly to both the sales team and the kitchen.
[ The Solution ]
We built a Next.js management system with a Node.js and PostgreSQL backend where each event is one record — hall, date, package, guest count, and catering menu in one place. The sales team books and quotes, and the kitchen sees confirmed menus and headcounts for every upcoming event.
